Patty VanGilder, BA, CPPD

Patty has worked at Angel Eyes since 2008. She has worked both as the Administrative Assistant and the Executive Assistant before becoming the Executive Director. As the Executive Director Patty is responsible for the overall operations of the organization. She is in charge of program development and all fundraising, including donor relations, grant writing and coordination of the Angel Eyes special events. Patty is a member of the Colorado State Fatality Review Board. She is, also, the Community Educator for the Angel Eyes Educational Presentations.

Patty graduated from Loretto Heights College with a B.A. in Psychology and Education and is a certified post-partum doula.

Bereavement Counselor

Rebecca Sugar

Rebecca Sugar, the Angel Eyes Bereavement Counselor, is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Bereavement Support Services Program. She manages all client contact including: one on one support for individuals, couples and children, making initial and anniversary calls, and facilitating the monthly grief support group, and HOPE Camp.

Rebecca’s undergraduate studies were tailored to explore the process of death and dying as well as the journey through grief from many cultural and religious perspectives. She graduated from Metropolitan State University in 2014 with a Bachelors degree in Spiritual Counseling. Rebecca is currently a Graduate School student at Metropolitan State University of Denver in the Masters of Social Work program. She has been with Angel Eyes since 2015.

Administrative Assistant

Kelly Van Doren

Kelly is the Administrative Assistant at Angel Eyes. Her duties as the Adm. Asst. include assisting the staff in any way needed. She is responsible for the family contact and database and assists the Bereavement Counselor with some case management and participates in the case reviews. She also helps with the Angel Eyes special events. Kelly lost her brother, Brandon, to SIDS in 1988 so she came to Angel Eyes with an understanding of what Angel Eyes does and what the families are experiencing. Kelly graduated from Western State University with a BA in Business and Economics.

Intern

Angelica Garcia

Angelica is bilingual and a student at Metropolitan State University of Denver majoring in Human Services. She is making the most of the opportunity to learn from this service learning experience. She has also volunteered extensively at Judi's House, which helps grieving children and families. Angel Eyes is happy to have Angelica on board!
