Executive Director/Community Educator
Patty VanGilder, BA, CPPD
Patty has worked at Angel Eyes since 2008. She has worked both as the Administrative Assistant and the Executive Assistant before becoming the Executive Director. As the Executive Director Patty is responsible for the overall operations of the organization. She is in charge of program development and all fundraising, including donor relations, grant writing and coordination of the Angel Eyes special events. Patty is a member of the Colorado State Fatality Review Board. She is, also, the Community Educator for the Angel Eyes Educational Presentations.
Patty graduated from Loretto Heights College with a B.A. in Psychology and Education and is a certified post-partum doula.
Victoria Cruz serves as the Angel Eyes Bereavement Counselor. She is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Bereavement Support Services Program. She manages all client contact including: one-on-one support for individuals, couples and children, making initial and anniversary calls, facilitating the monthly grief support group, and HOPE Camp.
Victoria holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver. She has experience working with grieving children, adults, and families, and has a particular passion for exploring the complexities and uniqueness behind every loss. Victoria utilizes a client-centered approach in hopes of fostering a professional yet caring relationship with grieving families.
Kelly Van Doren
Kelly is the Administrative Assistant at Angel Eyes. Her duties as the Adm. Asst. include assisting the staff in any way needed. She is responsible for the family contact and database and assists the Bereavement Counselor with some case management and participates in the case reviews. She also helps with the Angel Eyes special events. Kelly lost her brother, Brandon, to SIDS in 1988 so she came to Angel Eyes with an understanding of what Angel Eyes does and what the families are experiencing. Kelly graduated from Western State University with a BA in Business and Economics.
Sara is completing her final year towards her Masters degree in Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Sara has provided grief counseling and referral services to bereaved families at Suncrest Hospice. She is also a licensed massage therapist and Hatha yoga instructor. Sara's rich background will be a great asset to Angel Eyes.
